It’s my third trip to Siladen, one of the many islands in North Sulawesi, and the place hasn’t lost its charm.
There are many reasons why I am wild about Siladen Resort & Spa – lush tropical landscape, great dives, peace and tranquillity, the smile of the friendly and always kind Indonesians – but to me there is one very special thing that makes the place almost unique: the sunset.
There’s something magic every day when you’re on the beach, in front of the Manado Tua volcano, looking at the sun coming down, admiring the sky and the clouds colouring in yellow, pink and red. I believe Siladen offers one of the best sunset views one can admire, to a certain extent comparable to the one you get at Atitlan Lake in Guatemala.
Siladen island is accessible with a 40 minutes boat ride from Manado, where it is possible to flight from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Davao, as well as from several other locations in Indonesia.
The resort is small and intimate (16 villas, either with beach or garden view), ideal to rest and enjoyable by couples, families and group of friends.
A paradise for divers, who can choose among over 40 dive sites in Bunaken Marine Park, and a great attraction for passionate underwater photographers.
The diving centre organises daily up to 4 dives (2 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon and 1 night dive) always by small groups to enjoy the dives at best and possibly every day at different sites so that there are great chances not to dive twice the same spot.
Non divers can either enjoy single or accompanied snorkelling or take a course to get a PADI certificate.
Relax is a must at Siladen, and one of the things that makes me wild is enjoying a massage at the Spa after sunset, to prepare for dinner and for a long, quiet sleep.

Beautiful writing and photos you have here. Thank you for posting your blog. I’m a local Manadonese but I haven’t been to Siladen even at once! How poor. Tomorrow I’ll be visiting this island with some guests. No doubt I will see and enjoy whatever you’ve written here.
Where else have you been in North Sulawesi? Hope you have had a great time and want to visit again

Hi Patricia, thanks for stopping by and commenting. I only visited Siladen in Sulawesi but I’m sure there’s plenty of other awesome places to discover. Next time…
You have visited beautiful places and your blog is very good. Keep on the good job!
Thanks! True, I visited lots of fantastic places and hope to see many more soon. As soon as I cancel a line in my travel wish list I add a least two more. So it’s becoming longer and longer…
