A punt tour on the river Cam is likely one of the most popular leisure activities in Cambridge. While punting can be experienced in different cities like Oxford, Bath and Stratford-on-Avon, a stroll along the river is particularly enjoyable in Cambridge as the river goes through the heart of the city, from where one can admire some of the most beautiful old Colleges. Punts in Cambridge were introduced at the very beginning of the 1900s and quickly became very popular and somehow a characteristic of the city.

A cold morning in February, a strong wind is blowing and the sky is unbelievably clear. The buildings are mirroring in the wide windowpanes and shapes play like a trompe-l’oeil, changing while I walk by. I take my camera and catch New York City in blue.

No matter the place or the time, religious offerings are the essence of Bali.

Colored flowers and other small objects are nicely arranged in small baskets made of leaves to pay homage to the Gods. Offerings are part of the daily life and the deities are celebrated everywhere, from the small temples in people’s homes to the green rice fields.

Apart from peak season (from mid-July to end August), when they are overcrowded, the Aeolian Islands are one of the most enchanting spots of the Mediterranean. Lovely villages, breathtaking views and turquoise water, not to speak about the excellent Sicilian cuisine. A little archipelago worth to be under the spotlight, a different take of Italy.

A walk along Brick Lane and the surrounding area is a must for everyone passionate of Street Art visiting London. These cameras painted on a brilliant pink background seem to invite the people passing by to take a picture. And as they look at people in the streets, they remind of the ubiquitous cameras recording the everyday life… Is the painting saying… ‘We are watching you’?

Erected by Jesuits in the mid 18th Century, the baroque Cathedral of Havana is one of the most impressive historical buildings of the city. The façade, designed by architect Pedro Medina, strikes for its sobriety and is considered one of the most outstanding examples of baroque in Latin America.

Purple: The color of the lavender  decorating chests full of goose fat. Apparently, dishes cooked with goose  are delicious and healthier than the ones prepared with butter or lard. I confess that I had never heard of goose fat before…

Red and pink: Roses, chrysanthemums, carnations and many other variety of flowers in beautiful and different shades of red and pink. If I were living in London, I would have flowers at home every week.

Orange: Small, big, huge pumpkins… Ready to be carved to celebrate Halloween or to assemble for home decor.

Red and Yellow: I had never seen yellow tomatoes before, Have you? Not sure how they are tasting, but the chromatic effect with the red and green one is delightful.

Rainbow: All rainbow colors in this mix of vegetables so artfully arranged that I wouldn’t dare touch it and spoil the lovely composition

Brown, Crimson, Beige and White: The long, shiny feathers of Wild  birds. And handwritten blackboards with a rétro flair. For a few second I wondered: am I in the 21st Century?

Green and White: Aromatic herbs and cactuses, two of my favorite species. I like the special touch that herbs give to even the simplest dish and I am wild about cactuses.

Yellow and Cream: The most popular cheese in the United Kingdom, Cheddar, couldn’t be missing. Here’s a nice display of traditional Somerset Cheddar, the only one which – according to the Slow Food Movement – is entitled to bear the name (although many similar cheeses produced in foreign countries are commonly called Cheddar). It is not strictly in the Borough Market but in a tiny street a few steps away.

Grey: The color of Borough Market Art Déco entrance, whose sobriety enhances the fine decorations.

I was wandering in the outskirts of Cambridge when I stumbled in this old yellow car. And while admiring this wonderful object, I couldn’t help thinking at the difference between people having money and people having taste and love for the beautiful things.

Singapore at dusk is likely the best moment to stroll along Marina Bay (one of my favorite spots), enjoying the view of the skyline when it starts getting illuminated, outlining against the pink and blue sky on the background.  Last time I was in Singapore, the Marina Bay was undergoing a major development which has surely changed the skyline. Time to go back?
