Thanks to a very special permit, I got the chance to climb up Girona Cathedral bell tower and to hear the bell tolling right above me. It was the very first time, and I was so impressed by the sound, clanging for such a long time.

If you visit Girona, a lovely city in Costa Brava, you might not be able to climb the tower bell but a visit to the magnificent Cathedral, with its immense nave, is something you shouldn’t miss.

On the square in front of the Church of Nosso Senhor do Bonfim, the most famous Catholic church in Salvador de Bahia, a woman sells fried food on her small stand. All around, other stalls with more food and lots of charms, as syncretism and Candomblé are well alive in Bahia.

The ‘loggia‘, dating back to the early 13th Century, is strongly influenced by the beautifully decorated Romanesque style developed in Pisa, where it reached its highest point in the Cathedral and overall in all the buildings composing the wonderful Miracle Square.

The itinerary and program of the trip, organized by Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona Tourism, are top secret.

I only know the dates (from May 14 to May 18), that I will have excellent travel companions like Keith (Velvet Escape), Janice (Solo Traveler Blog), Melvin (Traveldudes), Angie (Angie Away), Kim (Kim Mance) and Diego (Viajando con Diego) and that it will be a lot of fun and an amazing experience.

These last days, I’ve felt like a child loitering around the Christmas presents under the tree, shaking the parcels to get a clue of what surprise could be inside. I tried to figure out where we will go, what we will do. Back to the beautiful and hipster Cadaquès? Visiting awesome medieval monuments? Walking in the Pyrenees? Enjoying secluded beaches?

Whatever the itinerary, I’m thrilled to go back to Costa Brava and to discover more at one of my favorite spots in Europe.
